So, not being a football fanatic is quite a challenge here in Spain since the country is crazy about the sport and having a conversation with a spaniard without mentioning the challenge between Barcelona and Real Madrid is difficult (actually having the conversation is difficult enough since I barely speak the language). But yesterday when some of my friends had a spare ticket to the national game between Spain and Venezuela I wasn’t hard to convince. I woudn’t let a chance to see the best of the best in the world’s biggest sport pass me by! And it is not strange that people get bitten by the football fewer down here because the atmosphere at the game was amazing, and the level of playing, wow.. Spain is the reigning world AND european champions, and that with good reason, I have never seen football played at this level and it was pretty great. Now I can’t wait to hit the local bar this summer to follow Spain in the european championship!
The game was played at Malaga CF’s home stadium Stadium Rosaleda, and I went with my friends Ivan, Jared and Martin who are respectively spanish, american and norwegian, so the norwegians were in majority! Spain was playing in blue for the ocation and won the game 5-0. Needless to say the home crowd was happy about that and didn’t mind showing it!
The spanish team’s “mascot” is this guy who’s name is Manolo who follows the team around to all of their matches and beats his drum all around the stadium. Apperently he is not connected to the team, he just started to go to all the games and brought his drum, and now rumours has it that he flys for free to all of their matches. He sure knew how to get the crowd going!
Nothing like a drum beaten 50 cm from your ear….
Thought I might post a picture of my new yacht the Tatoosh which has been moored at Malaga pier the last week… Actually it is the smaller yacht of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. His larger yacth, the Octopussy is 30 meters longer and has 2 helicopters. This one only has 1. This one does have a sailboat hanging on the side of it though. That is pretty cool.. It is for sale for a mere EUR125 million…
